The Best Al Fresco Restaurants to Visit in Singapore
As we head into the second week of phase two of Singapore’s re-opening, diners are increasingly eager to catch up with small groups of friends over a delicious meal at their favourite restaurant. But, because many will no doubt be feeling wary about visiting public places, a good way to ease into it is to dine at restaurants with al fresco areas. We've listed a few places to check out.
Located along the One Fullerton stretch, this all-American diner boasts sweeping views of the Marina Bay. Have a seat outside on comfortable chairs (spaced one metre apart) and admire the vista while tucking into hearty grub, comprising old-school crowd favourites and American classics.
The lobster tater tots, brimming with Maine lobster and finely shredded potatoes, make for a delicious starter. Follow that with other hot favourites that include truffled Mac & Cheese and Texas-style baby back ribs, the latter is served with charred romaine and grilled corn.

Enjoy a breath of fresh air with friends (maximum of five) at this restaurant, which has spacious outdoor seating and a view of the Singapore river to boot. The fun vibe is perfect for get-togethers, made even better with its fuss-free and delicious Mexican fare.
Start with a thirst-quenching margarita before digging into popular favourites such as crispy nachos with a spicy habanero dip; quesadilla topped with slow-cooked beef brisket, grilled peppers and pickled onions; as well as soft tacos which come in a variety of fillings.

Missing the beach? While short getaways to Bali or Phuket are still not possible, consider something much closer to home, like this popular beach club that recreates a tropical paradise experience. Its dining area stretches out onto the beach, which means you can go for a dip any time you want.
When hunger strikes, look forward to head chef Shiman Woo’s healthy and tasty dishes from the all-day dining menu. For something lighter, consider locally-farmed Kühlbarra barramundi, skilfully cooked to render the skin crisp and the meat moist. Served with zucchini herb salad and house-smoked eggplant puree.
Complement the meal with tropical thirst-quenchers, such as the Copabanana, a mix of vanilla and banana-infused dark rum, homemade passion fruit syrup, coconut and pineapple.

The homegrown café’s latest outlet is situated within the lush greenery of East Coast Park, overlooking the Singapore Strait. And it's no surprise that the breezy space, which spills out onto a well-ventilated patio, is inspired by its waterside location.
Even the menu takes its cues from its location with exclusive seafood dishes. A localised version of the classic French salad is the poached ocean trout niçoise, comprising string beans, green olives, spinach and tuna aioli. The Singapore chilli crab and prawns dish features its namesake ingredients served alongside wok-crisped mantous, jade fried rice and a house-made chilli crab dip.
