Audiophiles, rejoice. If music be the food of love, LongPlay is the cupid that bucks this digital era to feed us aural pleasures spun from the glory that is vinyl. The soundtrack to this new bar and lounge from the folks at the Unlisted Collection dials back to the wonder years of the 1950s through to the 1970s, serving up an eclectic cocktail of jazz, motown, and glam-rock. Drinkswise, expect modern updates on classic cocktails alongside entirely new creations that pay homage to iconic musicians. Craft beers, wines, and spirits are also available.

Opens on 12 February at 33 Arab Street

Fancy a glass of house-brewed makgeolli? This new Korean-inspired bar on Tan Quee Lan Street serves up a satisfying rendition of the ubiquitous Korean rice wine. Variations upon the theme of Makgeolli play on with four in-house creations infusing such ingredients as black raspberry, yucha (the Korean counterpart of Japanese yuzu), mango, and strawberry into the original brew. Bar snacks here are certainly not an afterthought. Order up the excellent slow roasted mangalitsa pork belly, addictive sheets of deep fried baby eel, and house-made tofu chips sided with guacamole and kimchi salsa.

Sherry, the fortified, barrel-aged Spanish wine made from white grapes, is a wonderful wine to reach for at dessert. But it’s lovely with tapas too, as evidenced by the smart tapas-sherry pairings crafted by Chef Jean-Philippe Patruno. Expect to tuck into the likes of Iberico jamon croquettas and slow-cooked octopus while you sip on sherries from award-winning Spanish producer González Byass. The exceptional flight of labels include the iconic Tio Pepe range aged 8 to 12 years and the Exclusivas range which are aged for a minimum of 30 years.
