Angelina

Dreaming of a French Christmas? It’s possible at Angelina, an established restaurant in France that finally made its way to our shores a few months ago.

For it’s first Christmas here, it goes all out with two creative menus that showcase premium ingredients traditionally favoured during the holiday season in France, some of which are the foie gras, oysters, chestnuts and wines.

What’s on the menu? For starters, the standout is definitely the Roasted Winter Squash and Ginger Soup with Scallop and Caviar, while the must-try main course is the Baked Angus Beef Au Poivre, Forest Mushroom Fricasse. For the grand finale, you are treated to Angelina’s world-famous dessert.  (The three-course set menu is available all day, from 1 to 31 December, while the four-course set menu is available all-day, on 24 and 25 December only.)

Ash & Elm

If you’re looking for a new restaurant to dine in this Christmas, Ash & Elm is the place to be. The newest addition to Intercontinental Hotel Group’s list of dining establishments makes sure that your trip is worth your while with an extravagant Christmas Eve set dinner.

What’s even better here is that you get two or more options for each course. For starters, you can pick amongst the Surf and Turf Platter, Oyster Degustation and Boston Lobster Bisque scented with cognac.

It’s the same for the mains where the chefs have cooked up the Rossino-style Beef Tenderloin Mashed Potatoes and Truffle Sauce and Tasmanian A La Plancha with grapefruit Hollandaise and vegetables. Ce La Vi

The restaurant’s Executive Chef, Frederic Faucheux, impresses us again this Christmas with a unique 12-course festive menu featuring new creations that are not your usual turkey, ham or log cake.

Instead, what you get are contemporary Asian dishes such as the Irish Kelly Oysters and the Wok-fried Shisito. But to make these more festive, these are mixed with Christmas ingredients of cranberry gel topping for the first dish and cinnamon honey glaze for the latter. Even the Yuzu Apple dessert is given a holiday make over by sprinkling it with gingerbread to create a crumbly base.

For wine lovers, the festive menu comes with wine and champagne pairings. For an additional price, you can indulge in these offerings together with fine labels including Ruinart, Dom Pèrignon and Krug Vintage. Now, that’s how you round up a wonderful Christmas meal. (The festive menu is available from 9 December 2015 to 3 January 2016, lunch and dinner.)

While Fat Cow is known mainly for its Japanese premium steaks, seafood is the highlight of its special a la carte menu this festive season. Where to begin? How about with the Hokkaido Miki Hotate no Otsukuri, which features thinly-sliced fresh raw scallops, or the Hirami no Usuzukuri to Tosazu Gelee, a tangy starter made of sliced fluke sashimi and topped with bonito-infused vinaigrette jelly?

It doesn’t stop there for the feast grows and becomes even better with mains such as the Zuwaigani Kani Shabu, where the Japanese red king crab is grilled to smoky perfection, and the Wakasagi no Isobeage, which features a popular winter fish fried to achieve that crispy skin and succulent meat.

Xperience

Christmas just got a whole lot more delicious with newly-appointed Head Chef, Trevor Paulo, leading the restaurant’s culinary team. He brings with him his love for French cooking to present rustic and classical dishes with his personal touch.

This is represented in his four-course Christmas menu, which begins with an amuse bouche of Blinis topped with dill yogurt and herring roe; and followed by an equally-appetising entrée of house-cured Salmon Gravlax served with edible truffle, mushroom soil and pickled shallots.

Mains get even better with the Hay Roasted Savel Chicken, which Chef Trevor will personally serve and carve out for you at your table. Think he’s done? Not quite for he rounds up the exquisite meal with the deconstructed version of the classic Pear Tarte Tatin, layered with poached pear and warm cake. (The four-course Christmas Eve menu is available for dinner only.)
