Ressence and Mr Porter collaborate on two new watch designs.

Based on the philosophy of introducing insider brands to the masses, Mr Porter first added Belgian watch brand Ressence to its stable in 2015. The brand wasn't a household name then—and probably still isn't, compared to the big boys of Rolex, Cartier and Patek Philippe—then but the e-tailer recognised its unique selling points and high quality.

Just this month, Mr Porter takes the partnership one step further by partnering Ressence to produce two limited-edition pieces of the Type 1 MRP, on top of the current range of watches (including Types 1, 3 and 5), that Mr Porter currently stocks.

The Type 1 MRP resembles the Ressence Type 1 with an identical case shape. But what's different are the case metals and dial treatments—the grade 5 titanium case version comes with a blue dial and silver satellites, while the rose gold one is fitted with a sandblasted white dial.

“They are extremely fresh designs,” says Ressence founder Benoît Mintiens to Mr Porter. “The rose gold is a monobloc case, milled out of one piece. We have done rose gold before, but not like this. We could have put in dark hands, but it’s a lot fresher with the gold. The silver dial–sandblasted so you get this off-white colour–is a lot more natural than a harsh white.”

Both versions of the Type 1 MRP feature the brand's patented ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System)— convex sub-dials that indicate the hours, seconds and days of the week revolve around the face continuously. Its dial indications are engraved and filled with Super-LumiNova, which explains its luminosity in the dark.

There will only be 12 titanium Type 1 MRPs, while the rose gold Type 1 MRP is even rarer with only six available worldwide.
