What could be better than a day of nail biting horseracing action, followed by the presentation of a newly-revamped collection?

When it comes to weekend treats, this past weekend, Longines really pulled out all the stops. Not only did they delight with their annual Longines Singapore Gold Cup, but this year, they presented a whole new and beautiful reinterpretation of its Longines Dolce Vitacollection.

The race took place at the Singapore Racecourse, with Longines acting as the official partner and timekeeper of the Singapore Turf Club. While guests mingled in full finery, 16 of the finest jockeys and their thoroughbreds vied for the coveted first place position, which brought with it, an impressive prize purse of $1.35 million. After a nail biting race, it was R. Shafiq and his horse Cooptado who scooped the prize, with the lucky jockey, and co-owner and trainer, Patrick Shaw, taking home a stunning Longines timepiece as well.

Over a fabulously elegant high tea, Longines’ guests were also treated to the presentation of the new 2015 Longines DolceVita collection. Meaning ‘sweet life’ in Italian, the new Longines DolceVita collection takes inspiration from the original DolceVita line, which, since its creation in 1997, has been one of the best-selling collections for the brand. Contemporary at its core, the collection gracefully marries a stronger, geometric aesthetic with  softer, more fluid curves. Designed to reflect the free-spirited nature of the wearer, the watches come in a variety of finishes and even sizes. When it comes to finishes, there is a whole world to choose from. To start with, there’s a choice between stainless steel bracelet or leather strap in red or white, diamond decoration or plain, and last but certainly not least, is the variation of dials. For a more neutral finish, there’s the silver ‘flinqued’ with Roman numerals, or opt for the more classic mother-of-pearl, or, for a really stellar finish, there’s the matte black with diamond indexes.

With the event taking inspiration from the spirit of this new collection, the light-hearted, Italian theme continued as guests dined on sumptuous canapes and mingled amongst the hydrangeas, eustoma and green ivy, in the especially created Tuscan garden.
