We are extremely proud of the stunning collections by Sabrina Goh and Chelsea Scott-Blackhall last evening, classic examples of local designers done good.

Presenting their collections last evening were local designers Sabrina Goh of ELOHIM and Chelsea Scott-Blackhall of Dzojchen, where it was clear to see that Singapore’s fashion and design scene has well and truly taken off – these two designers also part of three picked for the prestigious inaugural Fashion Futures programme.

Calling it the Sedimentary Rocks Collection, Goh’s Fall/Winter 2015/16 series takes inspiration from the boldly coloured rock formations unique to China’s Danxia landforms, models strutting down the runway in dresses and outfits coloured in striking palettes of red, orange, black, white and grey.

While staying true to the minimalism, androgyny and geometrical structure known to the brand, Goh also thought about the unpredictable erosive nature of these formations. The result is tons of layering, overlapping and contrasts – think sports mesh on solid black neoprene, abstract prints and stripes, finally draping over with a coat that’s appropriate for Fall’s cool weather.

For Dzojchen (pronounced doh-jen) designer Chelsea Scott-Blackhall, her Singaporean and British roots will forever be a part of the brand, the contrasting cultures of the East and West a wonderful duality that she has again realised for her Cruise Spring/Summer 2016 Collection.

Tapping on the tradition of the noble set for fox hunting, the outfits draw on dark romance and gallantry in the wild, represented by plunge-neck tops, long flowing drape jackets, and fitted shorts. Keeping to a clean palette of black, white, and taupe, Dzojchen’s cuts are striking, yet definitely a hit for lovers of contemporary classic designs.

The designer to complete the trio picked for the Fashion Futures programme, Priscilla Shunmugam, will also present her Cruise 2016 collection under the same showcase this evening. Stay tuned for more details.
