The Barbadian singer and fashionista will be awarded the Fashion Icon prize at this June's Council of Fashion Designers of America awards.

Barbadian singer and fashionista Rihanna will be awarded the Fashion Icon prize at this year's Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) awards, set to take place on June 2 in New York City.

"Rihanna is our FASHION ICON recipient for the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards!" announced the CFDA on its Facebook page. Previous winners of the prize include Iman and Lady Gaga. 

Rihanna is currently the face of Parisian brand Balmain, as well as the spokesperson for MAC's Viva Glam campaign against HIV/AIDS.

The 26-year-old has also released a number of seasons of clothing collections as part of her Rihanna for River Island line, a collaboration with designer Adam Selman and the UK high street label.
