With the city-state's Grand Prix next weekend and the ongoing Film Festival in nearby Cannes, Monaco is having something of a moment in the sun.

Louis Vuitton picked Monte Carlo to celebrate its creative director Nicolas Ghesqière's second collection for the label with its first ever Resort runway show.

The Prince's palace was the setting for a playful mix of clashing coloured prints, light summer knits, tweed and brocade, high-waisted tailored pants, and Matisse-like cut-out coral shapes. Key as ever was the footwear, with the black and white ankle strap pumps and the knee-high gladiator boots stand-out options.

And the accessories fans in the audience also got some treats; the brand's famed Petite Malle bag now comes with a chain handle, alongside some new bucket bag options.

Prince Albert and Princess Charlene were of course one of the main attractions, alongside a star-studded front row featuring movie stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Brit Marling, Jennifer Connelly and Adèle Exarchopoulos.
