Shop local this September at Orchard Green, with over 50 designers and artisans coming together to showcase fine creations by Singaporeans.

The idea of “buy local and wear local” has increasingly edged its way into the public radar of late.

KEEPERS: Singapore Designer Collective is set to take Singapore’s design scene to the next level with the largest gathering ever of Singapore designers.

From 12 September 2014 to 15 February 2015, over 50 designers and artisans will showcase their wares at a pop-up store on Orchard Green. Products run the gamut from fashion to furniture, food to architecture, and millinery to homeware.

Jointly organised by Carolyn Kan of Carrie K. and the Textile and Fashion Federation of Singapore (TaFf), there will be two artisans in residence: Carrie K and milliner Chee Sau Fen of Heads of State Millinery.

These artisans will be stationed there for five months, transforming a section of the pop-up store into a workshop. While there are 20 resident designers, over 30 guest designers will set up shop temporarily within the five months.

The fashion designers include Elohim by Sabrina Goh, hansel, In Good Company, Whole9Yards, Aijek, Womb, Dzojchen, Biro and AWOL. Accessory designers are Carrie K., Heads of State Millinery, Mandy Wu, DestiSaint, Gnome & Bow and Lingwu.

Expect to also see Singapore’s first artisanal perfumery Code Deco, furniture by Granfunkt, and homeware from Supermama and Ideas Empire. Guest designers include Vanda Fine Clothing, One.61 and Edypoi.

In keeping true to the local DNA, the pop-up space is a collaboration between award-winning architect Randy Chan from Zarch Collaboratives and design agency Acre.

Workshops and performances from various designers are also in the event lineup.
