Could runway shows soon be a thing of the past? Well, if Tom Ford's latest Spring/Summer campaign is anything to go by, the answer could well be yes

With one hit film already under his belt and a second, 'Nocturnal Animals', due for release early next year, it's no surprise really that doyen of design, Tom Ford, decided to showcase his Spring/Summer collection by video, eschewing the traditional runway.

Of course, being Mr Ford, this was no ordinary video, as the likes of Lady Gaga, Mica Arga, Lexi Bolling, Kayla Scott, Xaio Wen Ju all taking their star turns showcasing the fabulous new designs, while famed cinematographer, Nick Knight, was behing the lens, shooting the action.

Speaking of his move to the digital platform, Tom Ford had this to say: “Instead of having a traditional show this season, I decided to try something new. Having a runway show has become so much about the creation of imagery for online and social media and watching a filmed fashion show can be like watching a filmed play [which is never very satisfying]. I wanted to think about how to present a collection in a cinematic way that was designed from its inception to be presented online.”
