Two great minds come together to create masterpieces for charity

Contrary to what some people think, fashion is not all about luxury and glamour. A big part of this community is also involved in giving back, and one such brand is Phuong My. In support of the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Creative Director Phuong My, who is one of Asia’s up-and-coming talents, has collaborated with 11-year-old Singaporean prodigy, Gelyn Ong, to come up with special limited-edition dresses.

Inspired by the popular Vietnamese label’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection and SG50, Gelyn will whip out her brushes to create four floral paintings that will highlight our national flower - the orchid. These artworks will be unveiled at the Takashimaya Department store on 2 October and will serve as the main designs of the collection.

To incorporate these designs to the dresses, Phuong My will work closely with a Japanese factory to ensure that the paintings will be transferred to the fabric using the latest (and safest) heat printing techniques. Only 15 dresses, available in five styles and three sizes, will be made available. All proceeds will go to the said charity, which aspires to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
