Behold a suite of looks focused on painterly colours and smooth lines brought to life with special dyeing and bleaching techniques.

Picks from Bottea Veneta's Cruise Collection 2014/2015

Bottega Veneta's latest cruise collection is truly one to behold. The suite of looks is focused on painterly colours and smooth lines - all brought to life with special dyeing and bleaching techniques.

The women’s line-up is permeated with soft pastel shades – sky blue, pale violet and yellows – reminiscent of Tiepolo’s frescoes. Bold strokes of colours like burnt red and black are also present, adding a touch of eccentricity. Lengths of dresses run the gamut from short to long.

On the other end of the spectrum, the men’s collection is subdued with darker colours like black and navy, with occasional bursts of bright shades the likes of mist and flamingo. While the garments are impeccably sewn, the vibe remains decidedly chic and modern. Knits are textured while shirts are lightweight and made of cooling materials like cotton.

New printing and dyeing techniques have also been experimented with, eliminating the infamously fickle effects of bleaching. Creative Director Tomas Maier explains, “The essential starting point for Cruise is always the feeling of comfort and ease. I was interested in experimenting with techniques that are difficult to control and the possibilities they can bring, however subtle or unconcealed the result may be.”
