When a fashion institution like Chloé crowns its next big thing, you know this designer is definitely somebody to watch out for.

You could say that Chloé’s founder, Gaby Aghion was a woman ahead of her time, in the 1950’s already setting the trend of giving emerging designers a chance at showcasing their works, bringing in young designers the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo just to name a few. Continuing its status as an incubator of talent, the luxury fashion house has since 2012 been a part of the fashion and photography centered Festival d’Hyères, where the best in fashion have been gathering the past 30 years and more importantly – searching for the next winner of the prestigious Chloé Prize.

An excellent chance to get a foothold into the saturated fashion industry and a prize money of 15,000 Euros to get their designing careers going, every year’s a tough fight for the 10 finalists. Ever on the lookout for the next fresh face whose design can wholly capture the naturally feminine Chloé girl, the luxury brand this year picked Anna Bornhold who perfectly showcased the luxury brand’s motto: freedom to live life with a youthful elegance.

The German designer carefully handcrafted a cream and blue ombré buttoned jumpsuit, woven entirely with just sewing thread, before cinching the outfit with a vegetal leather belt. With her exceptional expertise and innovative use of artisanal craftsmanship, Bornhold’s inspiration based on an imaginary space voyage and the freeing sensation of weightlessness won the international jury over – which is presided over by Virginie Viard, Chanel’s Creative Studio Director, no less.

With the fashion institution recently renewing their three-year contract and thus a strengthened commitment to the Chloé Prize, we’ve definitely got our eyes on Chloé and what they are going to do next.
