With its pristine white-sand beaches and sparkling turquoise lagoon, the rustic paradise island of Gili Lankanfushi set the scene for Singapore Tatler and Singapore Tatler Weddings' breathtaking photoshoot with Richard and Ginny Wiluan

Located on the private island of Lankanfushi in the North Malé Atoll of the Maldives, Gili Lankanfushi was the natural choice for Singapore Tatler’s resort-wear fashion spread and Singapore Tatler Wedding’s luscious evening gown shoot. And who better than dapper society couple, Richard and Ginny Wiluan, to do justice to the picturesque scenery and vibrant spring/summer fashion?

Despite the early morning flight to Malé, there was nary a trace of fatigue on anybody’s faces – we were all clearly excited and eager to explore the resort and begin the shoot. After settling down in our Robinson Crusoe-esque villas, the team headed for a sumptuous buffet lunch at Overwater Bar, privy to panoramic views of the Indian Ocean.

Following the site recce by the stylist and photographer, makeup artist cum hair stylist Greg O started to work his magic on Ginny, while Richard waited patiently for his turn.

Earnestly taking the directions of photographer Skyy Woo, the hardworking pair worked the camera till evening for breathtaking sunset views, before the team adjourned for dinner. As we enjoyed authentic Maldivian cuisine, the affable pair delighted us with tales of their three adorable children.

The next day, it was Ginny’s turn to work the camera on her own for an evening gown spread in Singapore Tatler Weddings. If she was tired from the previous day’s shoot, it certainly didn’t show. Waking up early to catch the first rays of sunlight, the petite mother of three lit up the lens with her cheerful personality and endearing smile.

It wasn’t all work and no play though – the crew bonded over hearty buffet spreads at the Overwater Bar, a late-night movie at the Jungle Cinema, and snorkelling sessions in the crystal-clear waters – where we spotted many friendly sea creatures.

Some of us also had the chance to enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner on One Palm Island, a wholesome lunch at the organic herb and vegetable garden, and unwind at the indulgent Meera Spa, ending our trip on a pleasant note.
