“Make me look different,” was Shabnam Arashan’s instruction to the Singapore Tatler team. It was her third shoot with us for the year—the first was when she was inducted into the Fashion Hall of Fame; the second was our cover shoot in Dubai, to celebrate her acceptance of the Singapore Tatler Award for Style at our 2015 Tatler Ball.

And here again, at the grande dame of Peranakan dining in Singapore, True Blue Cuisine, we’re turning the lens once more on this fashion maven. The feature, in Singapore Tatler’s January 2016 issue, showcases the region’s most stylish women, as selected by the editors of the various editions of Asia Tatler.

With the camera zoomed in on her, the style chameleon transformed instantly into a mysterious seductress, channelling her inner Bond girl. But once the camera was switched off, Shabnam was back to her usual cheerful self, discussing the must-have accessories of the season, lamenting the state of American reality television, and reminiscing our wonderful photo shoot in Dubai.
