There are luxury skincare products, and then there’s La Prairie. You know... the brand that gave caviar a total “facelift” from delicacy to skin elixir more than two decades ago with the launch of its Caviar Collection in 1987.

Usually, when they tell you something like “the results are immediate and the improvement dramatic” in a press release, you tend to take it with a pinch of salt; like it’s mere marketing sweet talk. But when “they” are La Prairie, nothing is usual and, I’m convinced now that promises like that are not made frivolously in this house.

The new star addition to the brand’s super-luxe Caviar Collection — the Skin Caviar Luxe Sleep Mask — gave this expectant user exactly what they promised: the results are immediate, and the improvement is rather dramatic. I tried it over the weekend, and my, what a difference just a day makes.

Like us, this Luxe Sleep Mask is a capable multi-tasker. It’s a luxurious cream mask (it’s pink!) that promptly melts into your skin to begin its work as a night cream, and repairs and renews the skin while you’re sleeping. Its ingredient list reads like a menu of precious and nourishing skin food — caviar extract, sunflower seed oil, Carica papaya and Cupuacu seed butter, to name a few. Ingredients that are responsible for the firmer, brighter, smoother and more radiant and supple skin I’ve been waking up to the past two days.

I can’t remember the last time my face looked this healthy and felt this good. So good, in fact, that I left the house without a trace of make-up, which I never do. If that’s not reason enough to splurge on a mask, the application — with an accompanying brush — is in itself a delightful experience, and its scent is as calming and it is plush.

A tip: Use this together with the Skin Caviar Soufflé Body Cream (below), the other new addition to the Caviar family, for a head-to-toe skin transformation. Suddenly, a thousand dollars seem like a small price to pay to feel like a million bucks!
