Luxury skincare brand, Shu Uemura, pays tribute to the legendary Qiang embroidery with a limited edition collection for Chinese New Year

It might not be for a while yet, but luxury skincare and make-up masters Shu Uemura have already released their Chinese New Year collection, and boy, what a pretty one it is.

Introducing the Qiang Embroidery Cleansing Oil, the famed Japanese brand have teamed up with the traditional Qiang people who, since 1500, have upheld the tradition of wearing hand-made, embroidered clothing. A long and profound history passed down from generation to generation, the pieces are as stunning and they are unique. Limited edition, the drawings will encase the bottles and packets of both the Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil and the Skin Refining Anti-Dullness Cleansing Oil.

But that's not where the collaboration ends as Shu Uemura have launched a project with Chinese NGO 'Xihan Action' to help create a project fund in support of the Qiang traditions. It will allow women in the Qiang ethnic areas to partake in an advanced embroidery class for six months with the purpose of improving quality and quantity of the embroidery with the aim of helping promote the culture for future generations.

The Shu Uemura Qiang Embroidery collection will be available for a limited time only from January 2015. Shu Uemura is available from various outlets, for more information, see here
