If you like your perfumes with a side of history, then you will love Penhaligon's new scent, As Sawira

Sit back and relax because this perfume comes with a slight history lesson. Now, as you may know, in the early nineteenth century the bustling city of Morocco was mainly used as a seaport. Thanks to the easy trade links to centres such as London, spices, herbs and goods were easily shipped across the sea to be sold in the London Docklands. What you might not know is that the city of Essaoiura was the first major seaport in Morocco, responsible for a great deal of this transportation.

Fast forward to February 2015 and British heritage perfumery, Penhaligon's have looked back to the early trade routes that so helped form London's position as a centre of commerce and created their 'Trade Routes' collection. As their latest addition, As Sawira is based around that hub of activity known in the nineteenth century as Essaoiura and has formed a unique and exotic scent.

Woody yet fruity, the fragrance has tones of bergamot, roses, carnations and jasmines mixed with the more punchy amber, sandalwood, and absinthe. Finishing with tones of vanilla, musk and oud, the fragrance has all the same exotic, exciting and evocative tones you would expect from such a fascinating, vibrant period in time.
