Chanel picks Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen to be the face of its new Les Beiges makeup line

Even though rumors were rife on the Internet about Rihanna being the new face of Chanel, it has finally come to light that the French luxury brand has chosen Gisele Bündchen as its newest brand ambassador.

As the face of Chanel's new Les Beiges makeup range – which includes a luminous powder – Bündchen has unveiled a 20-second teaser video for the ad campaign directed by Peruvian fashion photographer Mario Testino, which can be viewed above.

Chanel cites the Brazilian supermodel as being "modern, independent and positive", as well as "a nature lover who has a healthy lifestyle and enjoys the great outdoors". "She is at one with herself and perfectly represents the values of this line: natural beauty, simplicity, freedom and a healthy glow," the luxury brand adds in its press release.

While Bündchen is used to posing for the world's leading designers and brands (Versace, Givenchy, Isabel Marant and H&M), she has not been involved in many beauty campaigns thus far. She was however the face of Max Factor in 2008.

Chanel's Les Beiges will be available from 15 March 2013.
