As New York Fashion Week reaches its final climax, we take a look at one of the makeup trends hot off the runway

This season it's all about a 'faux-nude' effect achieved by using transparent makeup such as clear mascara and BB cream. Whether eyes, lips or face: if you can't make it, fake it.

At Lacoste

Makeup artist Mayia Alleaume was after a "chic and sporty" look at Lacoste. Starting with black mascara on the eyes, she added clear Maybelline Great Lash on the eyebrows for a "clean and natural" effect, which was matched by the models' clear nail polish.

At DKNY

Charlotte Willer decribed the makeup at DKNY as "a take on everybody who lives in New York." In fact she reversed the ideas of Lacoste and gave the girls a pronounced eyebrow, with very light makeup on the eye, opting for clear mascara on the lashes.

At Custo Barcelona

Makeup artist Gato used a BB cream "to perfect the skin while achieving a bare look." Accentuating just one part of the face, he went for a bold brown eyebrow and added a nude-effect lip.

At Richard Chai

According to James Kaliardos if you're looking for a natural look, BB is the way to go as it's "really transparent, it leaves your skin looking perfect, but very natural. No one will ever know you're wearing foundation." Girls were treated to a heavily enhanced eyebrow with a pencil and brown brush on color, and a touch of black mascara added extra volume to their lashes.
