After launching a collection on the theme of superstition in June, the French fashion and beauty brand has turned to the world of music for the inspiration behind its Spring 2014 makeup collection, which will be available from January 14.

Music is the theme of Chanel's latest makeup collection, entitled "Notes de Printemps"

"A few notes, light and crystal clear. A melody you know by heart or an improvised chord sets the mood for a spring day." This slogan is the starting point for Chanel's new "Notes de Printemps"  ("Spring Notes") makeup collection, which is fronted by Hungarian fashion model Vanessa Axente.

The beauty experts at the prestigious French luxury brand have developed a collection that is rich in contrasts, combining pastels and intense, saturated colours. Lavender grey, powder pink, rich purple, hot pink, peach, red and mauve are among the collection's signature colours.

Three eye shadow items set the tone for this springtime collection: the Lumières Facettes - Quadrille eye shadow palette and two new shades of the Illusion d'Ombre individual eye shadows. The palette offers a quartet of natural shades for a sculpted look (lavender grey, matte brown, ivory, and satin-finish apricot). The new Illusion d'Ombre eye shadows offer a two-tone shimmer in Diapason (dark purple/bronze) and Impulsion (powder pink/silver).

The lipsticks in the new collection, meanwhile, offer more intense and fresh shades. Chanel's Rouge Coco, Rouge Allure, and Rouge Allure Velvet lipsticks are available in Mélodieuse (candy apple red), Triomphe (red orange), La Diva (hot pink) and Fougueuse (raspberry).

Lip glosses, nail polishes and lip pencils round out this Spring 2014 makeup collection, which also includes Chanel's Blush Crème and Poudre Universelle Compacte powder. Prices range from €22 (around US$30) for the lip pencil to €50 (around US$69) for the Lumières Facettes Quadrille palette.
