Chanel Reflets D'Été Summer 2014 collection

After presenting a music-themed collection for spring, Chanel is emphasising light and reflections in its Summer 2014 makeup line, titled Reflets D'Été (Reflections of Summer).

Combining subtle pastels and stunning bright shades, the new collection provides plenty of shimmery effects around the eyes. Chanel has introduced three new shades of its Illusion D'Ombre eyeshadow: Mirage, (bronze), Utopia (lavender), and New Moon (copper). All intensely luminous, these long-lasting eyeshadows can serve as the basis for daytime and evening looks alike.

In the latest Chanel fashion shows, models' eyes were highlighted by intense shimmery liner. So it's no surprise that the brand has introduced a metallic amber hue (Ambre Doré) for its Stylo Yeux Waterproof eyeliner this season. The Inimitable Waterproof mascara, meanwhile, is available in two flashy colours for summer: Violet Touch and Orange Touch, both flecked with gold.

Alongside these vibrant eye makeup shades, the collection has presented more subdued lip colours. The Chanel Makeup Creation Studio has introduced five new shades of its Lèvres Scintillantes lip gloss, all sheer and without shimmer for a natural look. The new colours range from light pink and coral to more daring shades of orange, fuchsia and purple/pink.

The lip glosses can be matched to the new Le Vernis nail polishes, offered in similar shades. Chanel has introduced "Eastern Light," an opaque white polish that can be worn on its own or combined with other shades for a dramatic effect. The new collection also features polishes in fuchsia, hot orange and lilac.

The Reflets D'Été collection will be available at cosmetics counters from June at prices ranging from US$27 and US$36.
