As the days grow longer and the weather grows warmer, brands are introducing lighter and airier fragrances, whether fruity, woody or slightly spicy. For women looking for a new summer perfume, here is a selection of five hotly anticipated products hitting perfume counters this season

1. The new fragrance trio from Agatha

The French jewellery and accessories brand chose summer 2014 to release its first three fragrances, presented in jewel-like flacons. Via Agatha, Rue Agatha and Agatha Street were created by Philippe Bousseton and Jean Jacques to represent three feminine moods: chic and sensual, mischievous and cheeky, and romantic. Ideal for summer, the three eau de toilette fragrances are based on floral notes including gardenia, rose and sambac jasmine. They are available now from the brand's website and in select stores.

2. Boucheron Place Vendôme, Eau de Toilette

Last September, Boucheron launched an eau de parfum named for the prestigious Parisian address of its first jewellery store, the Place Vendôme. Now, just in time for summer, the brand has introduced a new eau de toilette based on the same formula. Created by Olivier Cresp and Nathalie Lorson, the fragrance combines notes of yuzu and osmanthus with a rose and jasmine accord. This delicate perfume, presented in a flacon featuring the jeweller's signature "Clou de Paris" motif, is available now.

3. Loverdose Tattoo Eau de Toilette by Diesel

The Italian apparel brand has also decided to turn one of its star fragrances from 2013 into an eau de toilette this season. Loverdose Tattoo has been reformulated by Anne Flipo and Pascal Gaurin into a more delicate and airy fragrance. Opening with notes of tea, blackcurrant buds, lemon and mandarin, the eau de toilette has a heart of magnolia, steamed rice and tonka bean. The eau de toilette is available now where Diesel perfumes are sold.

4. Brit Sheer by Burberry

Rather than changing the formula of its star fragrance, which was first introduced in 2007, the British fashion house has given Brit Sheer an updated flacon in a pale shade of pink. More modern and summery than the previous design, the new bottle features a sheer variation on the brand's signature plaid pattern. The perfume still features fruity notes of pineapple leaf, yuzu and mandarin combined with floral accents of peony and peach blossom. White musk and a woody accord form the base notes.

5. Lady Million Eau My Gold! by Paco Rabanne

The Spanish designer's glamorous and bold women's fragrance is headed for a bright and airy new variation this summer. Developed by Anne Flipo, Lady Million Eau My Gold! is an eau de toilette based on a green mango and grapefruit accord, combined with violet leaf and orange blossom extracts. The fragrance will be available from June 25.
