The preps for the Singapore Tatler Ball are in full swing as we celebrate the Society Couple of the Year, and get a sneak peek of our stylish guests’ red-carpet looks.

"It’s been years since we’ve done a Tatler shoot together as a family,” exclaims Stephanie Lee as she steps into our location for the day, a villa at Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa. She and her sister Cheryl were invited to join their parents, Billy and Jessie, to celebrate being named Society Couple of the Year at the Singapore Tatler Ball this month.

As the day wears on, Billy becomes concerned about Cheryl, as she is expecting her second child. But like a bunch of troopers, the family carries on until the sun goes down, their energy never dropping (of course, plenty of coffee and Coca-Cola helps).

As they graciously work through the day, it’s easy to understand why Billy and Jessie are the recipients of the Society Couple of the Year title—they have been married for more than 40 years, and there’s a palpable bond between them. Plus, it helps that they both share a love for fashion and jewellery; the siblings tell us that Billy has always loved dolling them up since they were children, and he still picks magnificent pieces of jewels for them.

Speaking of dressing up, this issue comes full circle with an insider’s look into the makings of a Tatler Ball grand entrance. It took many weeks’ worth of planning and coordination with local and international designers, as well as make-up artists, but just listening to how excited Shabnam Arashan is to have her gown designed by the talented Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco and finally receiving the gorgeous sketch of Paige Parker’s gold Oscar de la Renta gown (as seen p.304) made it all worthwhile. Now that we’ve successfully wrapped up our 33rd Singapore Tatler Ball, take a look at their ensembles in the flesh here
