We go behind cover belle Beatrice Cheong’s shoot in Rome, and find out who’s on the beauty speed dials of five society faces.

Beatrice cheong is the antithesis of what many would associate with a society offspring. The daughter of Dana and Darren Cheong does not consider herself to be part of the social circuit.

In fact, she’s not one who particularly enjoys taking selfies, let alone agree to a magazine photo shoot. So it was no surprise that the 23-year‑old was reluctant when Singapore Tatler mooted the idea of a cover shoot.

What she did agree to was a fashion spread chronicling her trip to Rome with her mum for Fendi’s 90th anniversary celebrations, which included the incredible haute fourrure show at the Trevi Fountain. As the days passed, Beatrice got more comfortable with the team and her reluctance gave way to trust as she yielded to our persuasion for a cover shoot.

Soon, Beatrice was helping to prep Dana’s curls on location at the Fontana Del Tritone. As temperatures hit 38°C, the shoot moved indoors to the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, the headquarters of the Italian fashion house. A post-shoot cool‑down came not long after in the form of gloriously rich Gelateria dei Gracchi gelato.

Back in Singapore, the Tatler team was prepping for another photo shoot withfive society faces who disclose to us who they have on their beauty speed dials when they need to look fabulous fast. The first to arrive was entrepreneur Astrie Sunindar-Ratner with her hairstylist of 10 years, Andy Ong of Kim Robinson.

Even though it was only slightly after 8am, the soon‑to‑be mother of three had already gone for her usual jog with her dog, driven her kids to school and dropped off the family car at home.

Later, Sanveer Gill tells us how he has come to trust his barber of three years, William Yip, to glide a blade across his face. “William can slit my throat at any time,” he quips before adding, “But of course he won’t! I know that with him, every cut, trim and shave will be perfect.”
