The first thing you notice about Vashty Soegomo are her eyes. They are so big, round and intense that she says she has to match them with a smile or others would think she’s angry.
Then you notice her thick brown locks, highlighted with blond streaks but look so naturally bleached as if the result of many a beach vacation.
Then you notice her svelte physique and you think, “She has three kids?” Yes, Vashty is a devoted mother of six-year-old twin boys and a two-year-old daughter.
She is also director of her family’s integrated logistics company, overseeing its Indonesia and Singapore operations, and work sees her shuttling between Jakarta and Singapore regularly. When she’s in town, her schedule remains packed, ferrying her children to multiple classes. If she ever has free time, the thrill seeker engages in extreme adventures—she has a secret fondness for fast cars and bungee jumping. If not, she’s likely winding down at home, with a glass of martini in hand.
“I’m currently obsessed with the bags and shoes from Gucci’s spring/summer 2017 collection. Before, I was mostly a buyer of its kidswear, but have fallen in love with creative director Alessandro Michele’s cool, edgy pieces.”
“I grew up with paintings by Indonesian artists such as Popo Iskandar and Tatang Koentjoro (pictured)around my family home, so I can’t imagine a house without art. I’ve started my own collection, and keep them in Singapore, Jakarta and at a hotel my father used to own in Central Java.”
“I’m inspired by strong women like my mum, who is able to overcome any difficult life situation with positivity, and staying forever young at heart.”
