CEO, DBS Group

As CEO of DBS Group, Piyush Gupta has helped the bank scale great heights especially in the digital space

Piyush Gupta was appointed CEO of DBS Group in 2009, and he has helped the banking giant enjoy healthy growth in the years since.

DBS is now the largest bank in Singapore and Southeast Asia and announced a remarkable Q2 net profit of $2.69 billion, marking a significant increase from the previous year's $1.82 billion. This outstanding performance surpassed the average estimate of S$2.41 billion, as reported by a Refinitiv survey.

Among other initiatives, Gupta was an enthusiastic proponent of DBS’s push towards digitalisation. The Singapore permanent resident, whose experience spans both frontline and support functions, comes from a background of banking operations and technology. Under his current tenure, DBS has created new data governance structures, trained more than 18,000 employees in data skills, launched a consumer app and engaged in other future-ready initiatives.

Gupta, prior to his role at DBS, had a distinguished 27-year career at Citigroup, culminating in his position as CEO for South East Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Currently, he serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Singapore Management University and holds key positions in various international organisations related to finance, sustainable development, and AI ethics
