Linda Soo-Tan, Sabrina Ault and Dimple Aswani
Glamour and beauty abound in the world of Singapore Tatler, but even then, there are individuals who stand out for their personal style. Such ladies’ sartorial highs are duly recognised at the annual Singapore Tatler Fashion Hall of Fame, but this year, as before, the identities of the latest inductees were a closely guarded secret and the subject of much excited speculation among the well-heeled guests at the event itself.
Gathering at the Pan Pacific Singapore, some 250 guests mingled over champagne, wine and delectable light bites from food stations representing the hotel’s restaurants. Guests were duly ushered into the ballroom, where they were treated to an edgy, youthful showing of Pierre Balmain’s spring/summer 2013 collection of women’s and menswear following a light-hearted welcome speech by Edipresse Singapore managing director Gilbert Cheah.
In line with tradition, the April issue of Singapore Tatler had been kept under wraps until this definitive moment – our cover girls sworn to secrecy – until all was revealed by Cheah and editor-in-chief Jane Ngiam: joining the Fashion Hall of Fame this year were Dimple Aswani, Sabrina Ault and Linda Soo-Tan.
Taking the stage, Aswani, in a stunning Mugler creation and with her proud husband Sameer Aswani in the audience, recalled tottering around in her mother’s heels as a little girl and already making claims on her wardrobe and jewellery collections.
Ault, resplendent in her Escada gown, thanked Singapore Tatler and all her friends for being her family here in Singapore, while the ever-elegant Soo-Tan ended the ceremony on a poignant note, sharing how she has approached fashion in line with American Vogue editor Anna Wintour’s advice: “Create your own style and yet be identifiable for others.”
