Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT) has once again maintained the reputation of its annual The Theatre Ball as the party of the year. Themed The Red Lantern Pier 1933, the event saw the transformation of The Clifford Pier restaurant into a spectacular supper club replete with burlesque dancers and opium beds. With the vintage choice of theme came a unique dress code that embraced characters from voyagers and vagabonds to divas and dandies, to tai-pans and temptresses. January’s sold-out event also saw 32 tables of enthusiastic guests competing to offer final winning bids on each of the five attractive experiential items up for auction, which included a thrilling five-day gourmet tour of Tuscany with Audi and its phenomenal R8 Spyder, that sold for close to $30,000. With no shortage of champagne and gin cocktails, good music and great company, guests were kept dancing on tables till the crack of dawn.
