Doctors, researchers, educators and donors gathered on this fine August evening to celebrate the anniversary of SingHealth Duke-NUS partnership—forged a decade ago with the goal of improving the public health through research and education—and to pledge their ongoing commitment to push the frontiers of medicine, especially after a $30.5m raised over the past philanthropic year.
The night saw four generous donations—including a cheque for $4.2m towards paediatrics researche presented by Kay Kuok and a $2.5m gift from the Children’s Cancer Foundation to further pediatric research. Attended by guest of honour Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam and his wife Jane Ittogi, many toasts were raised that night—to better health, of course!
