For Christopher D Martin Jr, turning five called for a big celebration with a garden party inspired by his favourite fictional character Paddington Bear’s voyage from Peru to London. Elaborately planned by mum Clarinda Tjia-Dharmadi, the party saw the birthday boy and his friends taking over the grassy lawn of Raffles Singapore, curiously exploring various activity mats where they solved London-themed puzzles, strung necklaces with Peruvian beads, had their faces painted or listened to a Paddington Bear tale. A magician also amused them with a few tricks up his sleeves, while a buffet of English and Peruvian bites and fruity beverages satiated hungry guests. Door gifts took the shape of mini suitcases, inspired by Paddington’s own, packed with sweets and a customised globe in the form of a beach ball.
