Assumption English School raised over S$900,000 at "A Charity Gala with Wakin and Friends", part of the institution's efforts to raise funds for its upgraded school building in Upper Bukit Timah.

Taiwanese singer Wakin Chau (周华健) performed live at the event with his own six-piece band, belting out hits from his latest album (江湖) as well as previous albums including You Make Me Happy and Sad (让我欢喜让我忧), Love Follows Us (爱相随) and Friends (朋友). Wakin’s autographed guitar was also auctioned off for S$30,888.

The guest-of-honour for the evening was Lim Boon Heng, Chairman of Temasek and Patron of St. Gabriel’s Foundation.
