Billed as Asia's leading international design event, Design Shanghai will showcase more than 350 exhibitors for its 2017 edition, which has been expanded to include city-wide happenings with the addition of several offsite event. Attracting 46,000 visitors from 70 countries and regions, Design Shanghai serves as a platform for designers and architects from throughout Asia, while leading international brands come to gain visibility in the Chinese market.
The 2017 edition runs March 8-11, hosting international design brands including Moroso, Magis, Driade, Visionnaire, Porada, Art Design Group, CIAC, Thonet, Antonio Lupi, Seletti, HAY, Leicht, Fisher & Paykel, Kinnarps, Cole & Son, Duxiana, Bolon, Swarovski, Alessi, Dyson and DuPont Corian. New at the Shanghai Exhibition Center will be two design halls devoted to Kitchen & Dining and Workplace Design and joining the Contemporary, Classic & Luxury and Collectible design halls.
The Collectible Design Hall will be moved to a separate space to present one-off masterpieces from exhibitors including Zaha Hadid Design, Galerie Dumonteil and art dealer Frank Partridge. Beyond the exhibition center, the event will take to the streets as part of the Design Shanghai in the City initiative. Central to this program will be the Design Shanghai @ Xintiandi Design Festival, running March 6-19 in the Xintiandi district. Over these 14 days, the festival will take to the city streets to showcase a selection of interactive installations by international and Chinese designers and artists.
Also as part of Design Shanghai in the City, design tours will begin at the exhibition center on every day of the fair and end at Shanghai Xintiandi, stopping at design showrooms, museums and architectural landmarks along the way.
